On Wednesday, Kolkata police deployed at least five divers to search a pond within the Jadavpur University campus, where the body of a student was recently discovered. An official provided this information.
The divers were assigned to recover the belongings of the deceased student. This search operation was initiated after the student's parents supplied the police with a list of her missing items.
According to the official, the list provided by the parents indicated that the student's white shoes and glasses were unaccounted for. 'We have dispatched divers to locate these items in the pond,' he stated. So far, one shoe has been recovered.
The official mentioned that it still needs to be confirmed with the parents whether the recovered shoe belonged to the deceased. The student, who was studying English literature, was found unconscious in the pond on the night of September 11 and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
